Living Your Life Independently

Accommodation

There are 12 self-contained units on three floors. There are seven single bedroom apartments and five two-bedroom apartments. Eleven of the units are completely wheelchair friendly with wide automatic doors, ample turning circles in all living spaces, fully functional wetrooms and remotely-controlled curtains. In the kitchen area the sink unit, electric hob and the cupboards can all have heights varied by electric hydraulic motors, according to individual; needs and preferences. Access to the upper floors is by a lift which is regularly serviced. There is a communal laundrette with industrial washing machines and dryers. Access to the building is controlled by the occupants who also have personal fobs to gain access by the automatic doors.

Arkle House is not a care home. RILI provides accommodation only and is designed for independent living. All other services that a tenant may require must be provided by the HSE or Social services. The accommodation has been designed for those with disability and RILI does NOT provide any care beyond this. If you require significant third party assistance on a daily basis this accommodation may not be suitable for you.

Clinical Services & Patient Monitoring

Ratoath Independent Living Initiative uses best international practice to maintain and manage Arkle House for persons with permanent significant physical disabilities so that it provides opportunities for occupants to maximise their levels of independence and self-esteem, enabling them to integrate with local and wider communities and participate in the economic and social activities in the area.
