Is Arkle House Wheel-chair friendly?
The building is wheelchair friendly throughout and designed to the highest standards with this in mind. All doors are wide, and automatic. There is are ample turning circles in all common areas and in the apartments themselves. The kitchen area, the worktops and cupboards can have the heights adjusted electronically.
What level of disability must I have to qualify for tenancy?
The disability must be physical, must be permanent and must be significant. Before accepting a candidate for tenancy, the boards reserves the right to check these details with your doctor, your hospital specialist and/or your therapist before entering into a tenancy agreement. The most important criteria to be accepted is the ability to live independently.
Is Arkle House a care home?
No. Arkle house is not a care home. RILI provides accommodation only. All other services must be provided by the HSE or Social services. The accommodation has been designed for those with disability and RILI does NOT provide any care beyond this. If you require significant third party assistance on a daily basis this accommodation may not be suitable for you.
Am I allowed a PA?
PA’s are allowed. However if the level of care provided for you means that you are totally dependant on this care then Arkle House is not suitable for you.
Do we provide short term lettings?
All our tenancies are long-term with many of our tenants being in the accommodation for more than 10 years. If you only require short-term accommodation e.g. for rehab, then Arkle
House is not suitable.
